Homemade bread and indoor root cellar

Well, other than my crisis in the kitchen over bread making, yesterday and today have been good. You know, if you fail, it means that at least your doing something to progress yourself to do better.

Now I finally figured my mistakes out and can make my own yummy bread!!!

Danielle bought me a new book for xmas, and thou I admit its little bit pricey, its well worth the investment. The pictures are wonderful, and procedures are simplified in great detail. I impressed my Dad and Linda with a wonderful bread basket, a gift for Easter. I found the basket at Salvation Army, cleaned it up, and lined it with cheap material. Anyway, you can impress yourself as much as anyone else with this book.
The Bread Baker's Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread

If your interested, I have posted a picture of my self made root cellar (sorta).
Because my garage is not functional as intended, I decided to make a cold room/grow room. My idea for this is based on a window the is under my back porch wich is covered and that area stays dry. Second I used some drop (scrap) material to fill in the window frame. Using a hole saw I cut a 1 1/2 hole on left side, one on the right. My thinking was for airflow. I finished this off with two small sliding doors to adjust airflow and critter proof wire mesh.

I did all that work and didn't know if my idea was going to work. This was one of those roll of your hip projects with some thought into function. Yes, it does work!!!

ss If your considering build a root cellar, purchase this book to help you in the design and how to understand the complete function of a root cellar. This makes a great gift for the person in your life considering, or you want them to build you a nice root cellar correctly.
